Gunners facing European Specialists Liverpool

The draw is done. Fixtures are set.

United play Roma, who will be out for revenge. One columnist for Wicked Deflection fears them, as they're likely to behave like cornered, injured animals.

Chelsea will face Fenerbahce, who haven't made it this far in their history.

Barcelona will be taking on Schalke 04.

Finally, the belle of the ball, Arsenal's worst nightmare is confirmed in having to face our massive European Liverpool.

We're set up for a United v Liverpool final.

See the bracket here.

Nice write up. It's been a while. However, I doubt we will be seeing a Liverpool United final. I believe all of Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona might be more difficult to brush aside than you seem to think.

kdat- glad to see you're hungry for more posts. I'll do my best to oblige- everybody loves reading and talking about Liverpool.

I didn't get to see my Reds against Inter midweek (thanks to a Deportes debacle) so I didn't have much firepower. I can tell you that Torres' goal was a peach, and Aurelio wasn't anonymous for that second when he crossed the ball.

I didn't mean to imply that Liverpool fans are buying tickets to Moscow this afternoon, or that our third final in four years is a done deal. But, a Utd v Liverpool final would be great.

I like our odds against Arsenal and that Chelsea can beat Fenerbahce. We've beaten Chelsea in this competition more than once. Thus, we're in with a shout. Arsenal fans will trace a different trajectory, as will any other supporter of a different club.

This draw is really bad for Arsenal. When the opposition is in the same league, the familiarity lowers the concentration of players. More so when you have to play a league game in between the two legs of the CL tie. Playing anyone 3 times in a row within a week can get anyone feel jaded.

I forgot to add that I feel Fenerbahce has what it takes to upset Chelsea. They are hot right now and I think that pairing is the most likely to produce surprises.

i would love to see fenerbahce upset chelsea after barnsley's unlikely victory in the FA cup. abramovich might kill grant with his bare hands.

It looks like Arsenal and Liverpool won't be playing anyone outside of the EPL this season, even if they make it to the Champions League final.

I really think United are strong enough to make it to the final, even if they're not playing at their best.

I think it's going to be an all-English final.

Cracking stuff, the European Cup run-in.
