Arsenal can look forward to Champions League Football again next season, as Everton lost to Chelsea today. Congratulations, lads, for another top 4 finish, but the rest of the season holds no more interest than four friendlies. Friendlies are diverting enough, mind you, but if you miss one live, you don't necessarily bother with the tape delay.
Champions League semi-finals just don't capture the interest the way they would with Arsenal involved. I'd like to see Liverpool win it, but truth told, I have something of the jobless, uninsured Pennsylvanian's bitterness about me, since Arsenal's unfortunate expulsion.
Ah, but the Euros. The Euros are something to look forward to, and with the contested Democratic Party primary campaign in the interim, I'll just about make it.

4 deflections:
You sayin' you're gonna taking up gods and guns now?
I meant instead of football?
Cheer up, mate. Look at these games as pure entertainment. Just enjoy the beautiful aspects of them and then think about what may happen next season.
Games are so much better when there's something at stake. Take the Liverpool-Arsenal second leg - a classic game. If nothing had been at stake, I would have viewed it as a shambles, except for Walcott's brilliant run, of course.
Come to think of it, the defending by Senderos was the kind you'd expect in a pre-season friendly when nothing's at stake and players are finding their fitness.
How do you like the look of Alex Song as the new central defender?
I quite like what I saw. Song was composed on the ball and not afraid to go for tackles. Of course there were couple of nervous moments when he mis-positioned himself but he was fortunate that either Rooney messed up or Gallas was there to help him.
Not sure about whether he will develop into a world class center half, though. He has kind of the lumbering style; reminiscent of Gilberto Silva but a bit bigger. He would be more suited playing defensive midfield, perhaps a cross between (a gentler) Vieira and Gilberto. He doesn't looks like he would be very good chasing strikers around all day.
We have been very good at staying away from transfer speculations. This summer will be full of them.
