I tried to join but it says the mini-league is not recognized. Strange!
I wonder if it has to do with what league and region my team is signed on to.
Although it tells you it accepts the password, it is too long. Use the following: www.wickeddeflection
. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks, mate. It's working.
I think I have a side registered, but I haven't read the rules of the fantasy league. Feel free to post a shortened version of the main rules.
433, Thanks for that important reminder: RTFM!
As soon as I saw the post by Sixes, I went and signed up and made my team - without reading the rules. Now I've read them, I'm still not sure if I did it right.
Anyway, Here is what I got:
1) there is a deadline for putting together your team 15 minutes before each actual match. My understanding is that you can make a team sheet before the deadline for each actual match.
2) You can make up team sheets ahead of time and save them for future deadlines.
3) you get 15 transfers for the round-robin round and 10 transfers after that. (one player in and one player out counts as one transfer).
4) You can choose different formations for each team sheet to play different number of defenders, midfielders, and so on.
I think that's it.
I found that clicking on the "NOTEBOOK" button lets you view your entire squad and allows you to make substitutions very easy (click on that tiny half red/half green" button by each player).
If you found errors in my summary of the rules or little tricks to make the "job" easier, please post it.
What about scoring? What's the GH strategy? Formation? Who'd you bust the wallet to sign?
I'm not sure how the scoring works. I'm sure it's based on player statistics. I heard the podcast about the fantasy league trying to get some pointers but I wasn't too impressed with what they have.
My strategy? I think a good team needs a squad selected from a wide selection of teams. Pick impact players to maximize your point total. that's why a lot of people pick C. Ronaldo even though he is the most expensive. the 15 transfers that are allowed for the group stage should give you some flexibility. When you move into the quarters, make transfers to focus on the teams that have a good chance to progress far.
Since I am not familiar with Turkish or Greek players, I stay away from them but my squad contains players from all over Europe.
Do you have any specific strategy?
I think I have five good midfielders so I am using 3-5-2 for the group stage. Beyond that, I would have to look at the form of players to decide who and what to play.
I'm going with a 4-3-3, relying heavily on French players.
The Red Scare is hard to beat at Fantasy football, so my expectations are low.
Maximization of statistical points is the name of the game, mate.
So we're all set with a 6-side table. Given the relatively small pool of competition, I half fancied my chances for a respectable showing, but after two games, I'm firmly rooted to the foot of the table, with a solitary point, a full 5 points back from my closest competitor, and a startling 16 points back from the leader: All the way, managed by Dr Klu.
These guys are really good at this!
