Champagne Football - Really tasty vintage, Arsenal 6 - Sheffield United 0, Arsenal Goal Rankings; Plus - Vela has a Wicked Left Boot

Frivolous goal rankings based on a careful review of the Arsenal.com's 10-minute highlights from tonight's League Cup match:

1. The 3rd Goal, from Carlos Vela. The first of his hat trick. Bendtner, who already had a double at that point, won it in midfield and chipped a sweet pass to Vela down the right who had a great touch to play the ball into the box, and a stunning shot with his left boot. Curl, power, placement. Really deadly finish. Recommended.

2. The opener from Bendtner. Cue hate mail from those who can't believe Vela's chip isn't in the top 2, but Big Nick bent that opener fast and low and just inside the post. You can only beat the keeper who's in front of you, and if it was Gigi Buffon, maybe it would have been a nil draw, but that wouldn't have been nearly as much fun. The buildup started with Ramsey intercepting a cross in the box, to Randall, to Wilshere, to Merida, (I told you that midfield was mouthwatering) to Vela, with a fantastic turn, on to Big Nick for the finish. Buy this stuff in bulk!

3. The 4th goal, Vela's chip. From a Gibbs long ball, Carlos, on the left side, brought it down with his shoulder (it looks like it could have been called a handball), lost the defender, and chipped the keeper with his left. Really ruthless finish (that poor keeper). Too sweet for some tastes, but highly recommended for fans of the genre.

4. The 2nd goal, Bendtner's second. The buildup was Djourou with the interception in the box, to Merida who beats his man, to Wilshere with a great run through the middle, to Vela, to Ramsey with an even better run down the left, into the box, and a wonderful backheel that beats the offside trap, setting up Bendtner to cap off his double! De-licious.

5. The 6th, Vela's 3rd. Build-up again provided by Ramsey. Vela hit it from the left with his left hard and low, under the keeper. Tasty, even if the flavor doesn't linger.

6. The 5th, Wilshere's goal, another lefty. Fine stuff, and you can't beat the price! A corner kick was played to Jack at the top of the box, and he blasted it into the bottom corner of the goal at the near post. Possible questions about the Sheffield United defending.

All the promise from Bendtner, Vela, and Wilshere from pre-season was on full display, plus Ramsey, Djourou, Merida, Gibbs, and even substitute Francis Coquelin made some great contributions to the highlights. As a connoisseur of 10-minute highlight downloads, I can assure you that this selection from Arsenal.com is as fine as any you'll find.

Update: Good stuff from the Guardian and the Times.
