Sixes and Sevens: Xabi Alonso is not for sale, Mr. Wenger

Liverpool fans are rejoicing in the return to form of Xabi Alonso.  The player who has scored the winning goal against Chelsea kept has made the position in the middle of the park his own,a natural pick alongside Argentina captain Javier Mascherano.  These two players, along with Steven Gerrard playing in the hole in front of them, form the best trio of central players in world football.

With two promising players competing for left wing in Ryan Babel and Albert Reira, and the inexhaustible Dirk Kuyt (who has found his shooting boots this season) on the right, Liverpool is positioned well to continue their league domination.  This argument is bolstered by a return to the scoresheet by Fernando Torres  yesterday and a return from minor injury by Robbie Keane means competition for the striker role.

Liverpool have departed the Carling Cup in order to focus on more important silverware, leaving it to smaller clubs like Manchester United or Arsenal.

Liverpool fans want to win the league more than anything, and feel they have it in front of them.  But, will Chelsea drop points, particularly when they face Arsenal on the 30th?  Liverpool have barged down the gates of the fortress, and points are there for the taking, but their captain isn't sure Arsenal can face an evening without a night-light.

Will Liverpool come away from fixtures like Fulham this weekend with a six-goal haul, narrowing the goal difference gap?  Torres and Keane are behind in their goal tallies, and both players have a sharp sense for drama.

Is there a stronger midfield trio anywhere in world football than Alonso, Gerrard, and Mascherano?

These are exciting days for Liverpool fans.  Go, you Reds!

You lost all credibility when you tried to spin getting booted out of the League Cup as a positive!

Disgraceful.

Wilshere would've torn your first team to shreds.

I thought Wicked Deflection was founded on the basic principle that unjustified ravings and unfounded claims ultimately hold a pearl of truth. See your comment with respect to an untested high-school-aged lad.

I notice you don't dispute the lofty perch of the midfield trio...
